Shake the bottle for five to six seconds before use. Spread the glaze over the palette (tile, palette, etc.) and apply it with a soft brush or decorating accessory of your choice (sponge, stamp, etc.). Dipping the brush directly into the jar may contaminate the contents of the jar, especially if you are using other coating materials. Apply three to four layers to your piece. Elements™ glazes are designed to ripen at shelf cone 06 (999°C or 1830°F). When applying to a large area, we recommend using a soft, wide fan brush.
Wet the brush with water first. The brush is fully saturated (loaded) and each layer is applied in the same direction. When the wet look from the first layer disappears, you can apply the next layer of paint. Make sure the paint surface is completely dry before burning. Medium ramp/recommended burn rate (250°F per hour) is recommended for cone rack 06. Elements™ can be fired at higher temperatures but their appearance will change. We recommend testing before use.
Some Elements™ coatings are not recommended for clay pot dinnerware with a low burn rate, as surface coatings such as marks and cracks can appear. While a coating surface may pass leaching and leaching tests of both lead and cadmium and is therefore considered legal and therefore food safe, attempts to adequately clean the surface texture may cause basic porous tools to absorb and fail water. Elements™ coatings may be considered dinnerware safe if the surface texture is removed when firing at medium or high temperatures. The wrench is recommended for low-fire dinnerware (Ceramic Cone 06/05). Surface-textured paint applied to glazed clay bodies did not have the same care.
Cone 06 Cone: The grass is a lustrous green paint with an orange-brown tint.
6 Cone : Color changes to a variegated semi-transparent blue/green olive that cracks over texture and collects blue. Mobility is improving. Surface problems may occur.
Hint: stable coating. It will not move or weaken with triple layers.
