• Here's what you'll need to make your own wood-burning cutting board:

1. Bamboo (or other wood) cutting board
2. wood stove
3. Food safe mineral oil
4. pencil

The first step:

• Draw your design on a cutting board with a pencil. It can be anything you want. You can write your last name, draw some flowers or whatever you want!

The second step:

• Use the woodburning tool to trace the pencil design onto the wood. Use slow and even pressure, with which end is most comfortable to use. My favorite wood burning tip is the 'flow point'. I like how smoothly it glides over the wood.

The third step:

• Wash the cutting board with mild soap and water to remove any pencil marks that have not burned.

The fourth step:

• Moisten a wooden cutting board with a food-safe mineral oil. Let the oil sit and soak for at least 4 hours before using. No need to wash it before use.
